When….

March 5, 2008

Being sentenced to death is a punishment. Not being told when you will die is torture that only a free man could bear.

Not to mention, of course, that death sentences are simply atrocities overlooked because of being committed by a representative(s) of the majority, to set right the atrocities committed by a member of the minority!

But what I was actually going to comment about, was to say that this is quite true what you’ve said.
But the fact that we let our bodies ‘die’, too, is a result of years of tortures we inflict on our own bodies, pitilessly, by virtue of being a ‘free’ man. Taking freedom so literally, that we forget what is good or bad for our bodies! So it is definitely a self-caused torture.

mmm… such is the irony of the free man, as you have stated. We are sentenced to death, but we refuse to think of time as limited, or health as diminishing, or particular acts as damaging. We have such a long time to do things, how are we not all Mozarts, Michelangelos, or Shakespeares? (a metaphor of course, for greatness in a certain field). Rather we let our bodies fall into misuse, disrepair, or unhealth, for what purpose other than our expression of freedom?
